Manthan

Part of the Manaka collection, Manthan captures the restless energy and meditative rhythm of metallic beadwork in sculptural form. The work is composed of handwoven sheets of metallic beads, manipulated into fluid folds that appear to ripple and churn like fabric caught in motion. The name Manthan – Sanskrit for “churning” or “stirring”, echoes this sense of dynamic transformation, where stillness and movement coexist.

Traditionally confined to jewellery and smaller adornments, beadwork is here reimagined on an ambitious scale, creating a piece that oscillates between textile, sculpture, and wall art. Light glides across its textured surface, revealing shifting tones and depths that change with every glance.

Manthan is both an homage to India’s long history of beadwork and a contemporary reinterpretation that transforms an ancient craft into a timeless piece of modern art.
